Highmark Blue Sheild of Northeastern New York is helping local non-profits, kids in the Albany City school district and a family in need.
Employees donated $40,000 to 8 non-profits.
The holiday helpers fund was set up to allow Highmark Blue Shield’s nearly 200 employees to select eight non-profits to each receive $5,000.
The organizations include the Capital Region Food Bank, Captain Community Human Services, City Mission of Schenectady, Mom Start Here, Mental Health Association of Columbia and Greene Counties, Ronald McDonald House, Snacpack Program, and Things of My Very Own.
In addition to donating money, employees also donated dozens of winter clothing items and gifts to support children in Albany schools.
The items are being handed out by the Capital District YMCA.
