Village of Whitehall provides Saturday update on water levels

The Village of Whitehall said Saturday afternoon that as of overnight, the Village’s water system appears to be stabilizing, but is subject to change.

They emphasize that the Village still remains in a water deficit, which they are pumping water from below the maximum height of their intake pipe.

The Village urges residents to remain conserving water. Officials say the Boil Water Emergency and water conservation restrictions remain in effect, and that the water is not yet safe to drink.

Village officials continue to ask residents and businesses to:

  • Use showers and water usage appliances, but limit use
  • Limit length of showers, and avoid filling bathtubs and sinks
  • Run dishwashers and washing machines with full loads to limit water use

They say hydronic heaters are OK to use, but ensure you are monitoring any leaks.

Officials note that if your pipes are prone to freezing, to please take steps to winterize or insulate your pipes as continuous running water is not allowed.

Officials remind residents that all tap water for human consumption should be boiled at a rolling boil for at least one minute, and then cooled prior to use.

They say bottled water will remain available at the firehouse until supplies are exhausted.
