Vocal crowd at contentious Catskill board meeting amid staff suspensions

Students at Catskill are losing hope in their administration, they said.

The first school board meeting since the principal and the beloved music teacher were suspended was held on Wednesday evening.

The high school principal is now back on the job.

There have been rallies, marches, and walkouts.

This began weeks ago, when music teacher Michelle Storrs was suspended, apparently for joking about putting tape on students’ mouths because they were talking too much.

Parents, teachers, and students are calling on the district for change.

There is a petition with hundreds of signatures demanding the immediate return of Storrs, and the resignation of the superintendent.

Storrs is still not back.

As NewsChannel 13 has reported, the spring musical has been postponed a month.
