A 17-year-old boy from Voorheesville is already running his own business.

Alex Stapf is a high school senior who attends Voorheesville High School and the Capital Region BOCES Career & Technical Education Center – Schoharie campus.

He opened Stapf’s Dirt Work and Grading six months ago.
He’s already hired his first employee, another classmate.

“My grandfather always told me if you want to make money, you have to own your own company and be willing to work hard and he is right,” said Stapf.

The company is performing grading jobs, stump removals and lawn care.

Stapf plans to build the business when he graduates.

He says the goal is to add larger equipment, hire more employees and earn a salary of $300,000 a year after expenses.
