Sergeant Pasquale “Rocky” Girard was recognized for rescuing two people from the Hudson River.
Sergeant Girard was off duty and driving across the Irving Densmore memorial bridge in Corinth when he saw two people holding onto a rope, just upstream of a dam late last month.
We first brought you that story last month, First on 13.
He swam out to help them, risking his own life in the process.
Sergeant Girard has been a public safety scuba diver for more than 20 years.
He has also been trained in swift water rescue.
