A nurse in Washington County admitted to prescribing drugs to patients who did not need them.

On Friday, Danielle Simonson of Fort Ann pleaded guilty in federal court to charges alleging she unlawfully prescribed controlled substances to 54 patients. This included prescriptions for opioids, benzodiazepines, and Adderall.

Simonson’s patients were not being treated for medical conditions and paid her in cash for the drugs. She faces up to twenty years in prison when she is sentenced in December.
