Margaret Gregory, a partner with Toys for Tots, was in Walmart shopping for toys recently, when she got a real big surprise.

Kurt Bauerschmidt, of Waterford, noticed the group of people checking out with a large amount of toys. He walked over to find out what was going on and offered to pay for the toys, which totaled over $2,000.

“I kept saying to my friend. I cannot believe this,” Gregory said.

Bauerschmidt said he hopes his act can inspire others to do a kind deed.

“Just something small, you know, buy somone’s groceries,” he said.
