Watervliet Arsenal receives $1.7 billion investment

Congress and the U.S. army are investing more than $1.7 billion into the Watervliet arsenal.

That’s the largest investment in the history of the facility.

The money – which will come over 20 years – will go towards modernizing the facility, upgrading equipment, and bolstering the workforce.

The arsenal first opened during the war of 1812 and has produced cannons and artillery for the army over the past 200 years.
