Watervliet fire under investigation
The Red Cross is aiding several people after a house fire in Watervliet.
Two adults, and three children, ages two, ten and twelve, lived inside the Fourth Avenue home when a fire broke out on the front porch Thursday evening.
Officials say the fire quickly spread to the first and second floors. Fire fighters were able to respond to the fire within two minutes and contain it.
Fortunately none of the surrounding houses were damaged. A cause has yet to be determined. Comfort kits with personal care items and stuffed animals were provided for the children.
A photo posted by Watervliet Police on social media shows serious damage to the building.
