Watervliet man admits to stealing cars from gyms

A Watervliet man has admitted to stealing vehicles parked at local gyms.

Matthew Seeloff, 36, was arrested after police said he stole a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Planet Fitness in Latham Farms, a 2009 Subaru Outback at Best Fitness on Central Avenue and a 2018 Ford Focus at Vent Fitness on Troy-Schenectady Road.

These crimes happened from Feb. 18 through Feb. 27, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.

Seeloff also took money or cards from the vehicles to make purchases.

Seeloff pleaded guilty to grand larceny and burglary as opening arguments were about to start in his trial.

He faces 4 to 8 years in prison when sentenced on Nov. 7.
