The Watervliet City School District’s new school bus stop-arm photo enforcement program began on Tuesday.
The program is trying to reduce how many cars pass school buses illegally.
It starts with a 30-day warning period. This means if you pass a Watervliet school bus in the next 30 days, you will be given a warning violation with no monetary penalty.
Around 50,000 cars pass school busses illegally each day in New York state.
