Winter Realms in Lake George, which used to be known as Ice Castles, will not be returning this coming winter.

The operators told the Warren County Board of Supervisors’ Tourism Committee on Thursday that the mild weather made it too hard to be successful.

Ice Castles enjoyed tremendous success during its first year in Lake George’s Wood Park, but milder weather each of the last couple years but a serious damper on business.

Winter Realms was a less weather dependent version of Ice Castles and included a skating rink, but the company which has attractions elsewhere in the Northeast and West, was not able to make a go of it in Lake George.

They did not rule out a return sometime in the future.
