An Air Force veteran is being honored after his death.
Richard Traeger from the town of Day in Saratoga County served during the Cold War.
He was honorably discharged in 1963 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
State Sen. Jim Tedisco gave Traeger’s widow the Liberty Medal, which is the highest honor from the Senate.
A flag that flew over the U.S. Capitol was also given to his wife.
Traeger’s work with Air Force bombers during the war helped keep peace and protect Americans back at home, Tedisco said.
