A Ballston Spa teacher has been honored for her work and professionalism.

High school English teacher Tina DeFabio has received an Educator of Excellence Award from the New York State English Council at its annual ceremony.

The award is presented to show appreciation for how educators inspire excellence in students and teachers alike.

DeFabio was nominated by a parent in the district as well as her colleagues.

The Ballston Spa Board of Education also presented her with a certificate of achievement.
