Colonie public safety agencies are receiving $1 million in grant funding.

Colonie EMS is getting $650,000 to activate the department’s “Safe Streets For All” federal grant. The town EMS department was awarded a $2.3 million grant to improve road conditions and response to crashes.

Also, $350,000 is being awarded to replace the Colonie Police Department’s portable radios to aid school resource officers.

Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Assemblyman Phil Steck announced the funding last week during a tour of the Colonie Public Safety Center.
