Deputy killed 100+ years ago honored in Schoharie County

A local deputy was remembered and honored, more than a century after his death.
Members of the sheriff’s office paid tribute to Deputy Loren Veley, who was killed in the line of duty more than 100 years ago.
Members placed flowers on Veley’s grave in the Richmondville Rural Cemetery.
The ceremony was closed with the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office thanking Veley for his service and sacrifice to the people of Schoharie County.
