The Schenectady County legislature is thanking emergency responders.

The legislature just presented awards to honor them for their contributions to the community.

Each honoree receiving a volunteer firefighter and EMS of the year award was nominated by their respective departments.

The chair of the legislature thanked those who work for fire and EMS and said their work is often overlooked.

Congratulations to those six who were honored.
