Golf tournament for cancer research keeps Saratoga Springs man’s legacy alive
Bob Desautels of Saratoga Springs tragically lost his battle to brain cancer a year ago, but his family is taking a motto he had, “Keep Pushin’,” and using it to help find a cure.
The married father of three was rushed to the hospital after having a seizure at work one day. He had emergency brain surgery and was quickly diagnosed with brain cancer.
There was no history of it in his family. This friendly, outgoing, cheerful guy wasn’t about to take it lying down, keeping a positive attitude through the fight.
Desautels was an REO Speedwagon fan, and one of their songs, “Keep Pushin’” became his rallying cry.
Even as he battled, he was determined to keep pushing for a cure and treatment to help others. He organized a golf tournament at Colonie Golf & Country Club to benefit research at Dana Farber in Boston.
The third annual tournament is Monday, May 20. Organizers are looking for sponsors and donations.
All the money raised will go directly to Dana Farber.
