Some big changes are coming to the Saratoga Springs Police Department.
Thursday, June 29 marks the official changing of the guard at the top of the department as Chief Shane Crooks retires, and Tyler McIntosh takes over the top job.
McIntosh, 36, becomes chief after 11 years in the department. He started as a patrol officer in 2012.
Crooks retires after 26 years in law enforcement.
They were both recognized at a ceremony at Saratoga Music Hall on Tuesday evening.
Also at that time, Investigator Chris Allen was named the department’s “Officer of the Year.”
Allen started wearing the uniform in 2013 and was promoted to investigator in 2017.
In recognizing him, the department says Allen’s professionalism, drive and attitude are unmatched.
He has three children, and his wife is due with a fourth very soon.
