A 64-year-old woman and her husband were going from the Rochester area to Cleveland Clinic for a life-saving surgery, a heart transplant.
However, they got stranded in Portland because of a snow storm.
Time was of the essence because she had a battery-powered heart pump.
Her husband got in contact with a nurse from Cleveland Clinic, who contacted State Police.
Troopers got the woman to Westfield Memorial, then Jamestown Airport, and she was flown out for her heart transplant.
This shows how critical teamwork and quick thinking can save lives, State Police said.
