New home for abandoned cat

A cat found abandoned in a duffel bag in Albany, Newt, now has a new home. The 1-year-old, six-pound cat was found last month, alongside some trash cans on Sherman Street in Albany. Newt was rescued and taken care of at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.

Tiki Tours seek new name

Tiki Tours on Lake George and Saratoga Lake are looking for a new name
and they want your ideas. They’re looking for three words max – and the words Tiki Tours must be incorporated. Submit your ideas on the Tiki Tours Facebook page.

Grant for UAlbany’s Innovate 518

UAlbany’s Innovate 518 just received big funding from the Empire State Development – $1.25 million over five years. Innovate 518 is an innovation hot-spot led by the school. They’re spaces for young entrepreneurs to grow from the start-up phase.

Bennington Valentine’s Day pop-up shop

Bennington, Vermont is hosting a Valentine’s Day pop-up shop
this weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Seventeen vendors will be set up along Main Street with Valentine’s Day gift ideas. The shops include art shops, bakeries, a variety of boutiques. It all starts at 11 a.m. on Friday.

Colombian feast in Albany

The International Center of the Capital Region will be hosting its Inaugural Prix Fixe Dinner to highlight its food passport. The dinner is Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. at Moliendo Café on Madison Avenue in Albany.
They’ll serve a Colombian feast. The center is a non-profit that welcomes and helps international newcomers through Albany.
