U.S. Rep. Paul Tonko visited Troy Fire Department Station 2 on Friday.

He spoke with firefighters and got the chance to see the critical new equipment bought by the department with federal funding.

The department received more than $128,000 last year to buy new fire helmets, and new washers and dryers for turnout gear.

Now all fire stations in Troy can wash and dry their own gear.
