Outgoing Albany County Health Commissioner Dr. Elizabeth Whalen was honored on Monday. Whalen was a constant source of information and guidance during the pandemic, holding hundreds of press conferences in 2020 and 2021.

Whalen was a constant source of information and guidance during the pandemic, holding hundreds of press conferences in 2020 and 2021.
She thanked her fellow leaders in Albany County.
“When you’re able to work through an incredible challenge with cohesion, and not divisiveness, it really makes it easier,” said Whalen. “So as much as we wonder about sitting up here whether we have a little element of PTSD, I don’t. It still feels normal.”
Whalen’s last day with the county is Thursday.
