Brain surgery through eyelid cures aneurysm

A woman had a procedure to cure a brain aneurysm through her eyelids.

September is Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month.

A woman from Florida had a procedure to fix an aneurysm done through her eyelid.

Barbara O’Hara enjoys being active, but neck pain and migraine headaches stopped her in her tracks.

“Oh, that pain was just awful. Just excruciating,” she said.

Traditional surgery calls for a large incision along the hairline.

However, O’Hara qualified for a novel minimally invasive approach called transorbital or through-the-eyelid surgery.

3D imaging is used to help plan the surgery and ensure safety.

There is no scar and no pain.
