Christmas trees can carry dust, mold
If your Christmas tree is up and you’re coughing and sneezing, you may have “Christmas tree syndrome.”
Real and artificial trees can carry dust and mold, which can lead to respiratory issues. If you are noticing your allergies getting worse, an air purifier and traditional allergy medicines such as over-the-counter nasal steroids, nasal antihistamines or oral antihistamines can help with symptoms.
If you have a real tree, wash it down outside with the hose before bringing it into the home.
An artificial tree should be stored in an airtight container to keep it free of dust and mold.
