Now that the new year has arrived, many people are heading back to the gym. That can be intimidating if you haven’t gone in a while.
Dr. Marie Schaefer with Cleveland Clinic recommends working out twice a week in the beginning and then gradually increasing your activity from there.
You don’t want to burn yourself out, so it’s important to get enough rest between workouts.
For beginners, it’s suggested to mix both cardio and strength training.
Be sure to not go too heavy with weights to not risk injury.
Don’t be discouraged if you don’t see results right away – consistency is key.
If you don’t feel comfortable going to the gym, there are plenty of great workout videos online that you could do at home instead.
