Health experts recommend no caffeine for anyone younger than 19.

The Roger Wood Johnson Foundation has a program called Healthy Eating Research. Experts with the program saying drinking caffeinated drinks like Prime can cause problems for kids and teens. This includes high blood pressure, heart palpitations, but it doesn’t just cause physical health problems. Doctors say it can cause mental ones too.

“We are seeing that even small amounts of caffeine in children and adolescents is leading to sleep disturbances, increased rates of anxiety and depression, as well as other mood disorders, and increased risk of other negative behaviors like poor dietary habits, increased use of alcohol and tobacco,” said Megan Lott, deputy director of Healthy Eating Research.

Research shows that the only beverages recommended for kids to drink are water and milk. Healthy Eating Research advises kids and teens to avoid caffeine as much as possible.
