In recognition of American Heart Month, Hannaford Supermarkets says all of its 185 stores will soon have automated external defibrillators, or AEDs available.

The store says people can go under cardiac arrest, including while they’re shopping.

The shock can potentially stop an irregular heartbeat and allow a normal rhythm to resume if that happens.

Installations have already started.

More than 350,000 cardiac arrests are estimated to occur outside of the hospital each year.
