Make plans to transition out of ‘hibernation’
Transition from winter to spring can be an adjustment
Many people are inclined to “hibernate” during the colder months.
Dawn Potter, a psychologist for the Cleveland Clinic said if you have a hard time transitioning out of the winter funk, there are some easy things you can do.
For example, start making plans for things you want to do as the weather gets warmer, like creating a garden, redecorating or reconnecting with friends.
“You get extra sunshine when you leave work and I think that’s great – more opportunity to get outside, more opportunity to do more fun outdoor activities, cook outside, things like that that I think can offset any negative impacts on sleep and wellbeing,” Potter said.
If you find yourself feeling depressed or lacking energy, speak with a mental health professional.
