Mosquito season continuing in full force. August and September are peak months.
August and September are peak months for mosquito-borne illnesses. Also, diseases like dengue fever, EEE and West Nile virus are still being reported.
There are specific mosquitoes that carry the West Nile virus. Not every mosquito carries it.
The mosquitoes that have been infected through a bird exposure. They carry the infection in their belly and when they bite you, they can transmit it to humans. New York state is currently seeing higher risks, especially in some of the southern counties.
If you want to reduce your risk, use insect repellents and eliminate any stagnant water around your house.
