Doctors and researchers are only beginning to chart the longer-term health effects of covid-19 on some patients.

Now, they look into striking new data that appears to show a connection between covid surges and heart disease.

A national study conducted by doctors, shows that deaths related to heart attacks increased across every age group since the spring of 2020.
But, the group that saw the biggest increase, isn’t who you might think.

The relative increase in heart attack-associated deaths among 25- to 44-year-olds was a staggering 30 percent, which is more than the increase in middle and older age groups, which ranged between 15 and 20 percent.

So, why the spike in heart problems with each pandemic wave?

Experts are still working to figure out why young people are so impacted, but doctors say it may be related to higher viral load exposure or an excess immune response in stronger immune systems.
