New research suggests a drug already approved for asthma may protect against severe reactions from food allergies.

A clinical trial showed that kids who got injections of the drug were able to consumer higher doses of foods like peanuts and eggs compared with people who were treated with placebos.

The drug already has been prescribed off label to patients.
