Everyone should clean out their medicine cabinet twice a year, the FDA said. That clean out should happen once before spring and summer, and again in fall or winter.
The big question on most people’s minds during this seasonal purge is in regard to expired medication.
Over the counter meds that aren’t in liquid form can be good up to one year after the expiration date, but they may not be as effective, medical experts said.
However, prescription medications should be thrown out as soon as they expire.
After cleaning out your medicine cabinet, it’s time to restock aspirin, antihistamines, antacids and antibiotics.
