Many of us store our medications in the bathroom, but experts say that may not be the best idea.

Although it’s called the “medicine cabinet,” the storage space in your bathroom is actually not the safest place to put your meds. That’s because they can become less effective over time while stored there.

Experts recommend finding a dry, cool space to store your medications, and there’s a couple of ways to tell if your meds have gone bad.

Besides checking the expiration date, you can also look for a change in color or even smell. If you notice any differences in your pills, you should dispose of them, and contact your doctor.
