The U.S. Small Business Administration is celebrating Capital Region entrepreneurs.

The upstate New York division of the SBA has awarded its 2023 Small Businessperson of the Year to Trent Griffin-Braaf, who owns Tech Valley Hospitality Shuttle in Cohoes.

Before becoming an entrepreneur, Griffin-Braaf served a prison sentence and decided to change the direction of his life.

He started Tech Valley Hospitality Shuttle in 2016 to serve people in the greater Capital Region who might not otherwise have transportation.

The SBA is also honoring Mary Malone McCarthy from M3 Placement & Partnership in Albany. She is the recipient of the “Women in Business Champion Award” for her unwavering commitment to female entrepreneurs.

Upstate New York’s 2023 Small Businessperson of the Year was selected from nominees across the district’s 34 counties.
