The Capital Region gaming cluster continues to be a force in our area.
As of last month, the Capital Region has more than 500 workers at 26 digital gaming studios. Eleven studios have plans to hire more workers over the next 12 months.
In addition, a new digital gaming incubator is being developed in Glenville. The Capital District Gaming Studio will provide space for indie game developers.
In collaboration with the University at Albany and SUNY Schenectady, the incubator will also serve as a training facility for students, novices and professionals who can learn game development skills and receive professional certifications.
Games you can expect to see this year involving local studios include Blizzard Entertainment’s “Diablo IV” and Velan Studios’ “Hot Wheels: Rift Rally.”
