Chez Pierre marks 60 years of fine dining in Wilton

Chez Pierre marks 60 years

The Route 9 in Wilton has offered fine dining to generations of repeat customers. The appearance of the restaurant has changed through the years, but the menu has consistently offered elegant French cuisine in a casual atmosphere including items like escargot, chicken cordon bleu and steak au poivre.

A Saratoga County restaurant is celebrating its 60th anniversary.

Chez Pierre was started in April 1964 by Pierrette Baldwin and her late husband Joseph. Joseph was an American GI who met Pierette in her hometown in France just after World War II. She grew up in a café in France before meeting Joe and moving to the U.S.

Pierrette, now 89, is still involved in the business, which is now operated by her daughter, Pia, and her husband, Lincoln.
Chez Pierre serves dinner Tuesday through Saturday. During the Saratoga Racing season, it’s open Tuesday through Sunday.
