Programming at public libraries across the country is soaring. One local library is making sure people in its community always have access.

Through its Outreach Services program, the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library works to deliver services to the community when the community cannot come to the library.

“So by going where people are, whether it’s to their homes or to community events, we can make sure that people are aware of our services and be able to access them,” library director Alexandra Gutelius.

From children’s programs to community events to personalized home delivery of materials, the library’s outreach services became extremely apparent during the pandemic and are still important today.

Youth services are also provided, and home delivery is available for home bound individuals in the area, supported by the Friends of the Library volunteers.

“We put together bags of books or DVDs or audiobooks and materials for those people based on their interest, and then they are delivered to their home,” Gutelius said.
