Looking for a place to enjoy Caribbean food? There’s a new spot on Wolf Road in Colonie.

AJW Caribbean restaurant held its grand opening and ribbon cutting last week. The owner was born in Haiti, and says she loves experimenting with Haiti’s complex flavors and traditional meals.

The restaurant will use local, fresh ingredients to create affordable and authentic Caribbean food.

The menu includes fried pork, beef and goat as well as other traditional Haitian dishes, like vegetable stew with beef. Sides include fritters, fried ripe plantains, and rice and gravy.

The restaurant is in the former Starbuck’s space, next to Men’s Warehouse.

AJW will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
