There’s a new Caribbean-themed restaurant in Troy.
Pataconia is now up and running in the River Street Market.
The menu features Patacones – which are sandwiches that include chicken, shredded beef or BBQ beef and greens – between two fried plantains.
You can also enjoy pastelillos, which are similar to empanadas, and rice bowls.
Homemade plantain chips can be enjoyed on the side.
One of the owners is originally from the Dominican Republic, and says he’s always loved cooking.
He says opening this restaurant has allowed him to define his identity as a chef.
The restaurant is open Monday and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
