Schenectady hardware store celebrates 100th year in business

Schenectady Hardware & Electric is celebrating its 100th year in business.

The company is shining a light on its annual scholarship opportunity to mark the occasion.

The scholarship has been offered for 15 years.  

The company’s current president, Chris Spraragen, has awarded two recipients the $2,500 scholarship.

The scholarship is available to the child or grandchild of a current or active member of IBEW Local 236, or of the management or staff of a signatory contractor of the union.

Applicants must be from a graduating high school senior and must have been accepted to an accredited two or four-year college or university or be a current college student.

Applicants may also be a current union member looking to continue their education.

The application deadline is May 1.
