Manufacturing jobs in the United States have fallen by more than 35% since 1995.
Despite that trend, some areas of the country are strongholds – including the Capital Region.
A new study by the group SmartAsset shows the Albany-Schenectady-Troy metro area is among the “25 Best Places to Work in Manufacturing.”
The study looked at 400 metro areas – on the topics of manufacturing employment, income and the cost of living.
In Albany Schenectady, and Troy, more than 7% of the workforce is in manufacturing.
Glens Falls also cracked the top 25 – where nearly 16% of people have jobs in the manufacturing industry – and there’s been a 3% increase in the last year.
