One person died in a Kinderhook car crash on Monday morning.

Sophia Perez-Martinez, 48, was trying to turn from State Route 9H to County Route 25 just before 8 a.m., investigators said. She pulled into the path of a van and was hit.

Perez-Martinez was pronounced dead at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

An 8-year-old child in her car was taken to Albany Medical Center and is expected to be OK.

The van driver was not hurt.

The crash is under investigation, but police don’t think drugs or alcohol were involved, they said.
