Woman arrested in shooting at Amsterdam basketball tournament

A woman was arrested and police are conducting an investigation after a person was shot in Amsterdam on Sunday.
Josefina Baret-Araujo of Amsterdam, 36, shot another woman at Veterans Park during the Summertime Love Basketball Classic.
The victim, a 38-year-old woman, was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Baret-Araujo surrendered to police, and the handgun used in the incident was recovered.
A motive cannot be confirmed at this time, said police, but the victim and the shooter knew each other, they said. This was part of a preexisting conflict between the two, they added.
