A Lake George woman was killed in a house fire on Sunday.

Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 28 Newton St. at about 3:15 a.m. The fire had been extinguished by a family member, but Kimberly S. Quay, 58, died as a result of the fire, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office said.

Daniel W. Quay, 72, was awakened by a smoke alarm and able to get out of the residence. He was transported by Lake George EMS to Glens Falls Hospital with minor smoke inhalation. The Lake George Fire Department and Lake George EMS assisted at the scene.

The fire is being investigated jointly by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Office of Fire Protection and Control and Warren County Emergency Services. A preliminary investigation determined the cause of the fire to be accidental in nature.
