Woman sees big success taking over family’s Guilderland restaurant

Sandra Cipollo was once a kid working in her dad’s Italian restaurant.

Her eventual goal was to go into medicine, but the kitchen became home, and she stayed to help her dad and then her brother, who owned Café Calabria on Western Avenue, near Crossgates.

She purchased the business from her brother six months ago, and renamed it Café Calabria II.

She’s now making a name for herself as the only woman in the family to start a business.
