More than 8,000 New Yorkers are waiting for a life-saving transplant right now, according to the Organ Procurement and Transplant Network.
The governor is calling on New Yorkers to sign up for the state’s donate life registry.
National Donate Life month highlights the urgent demand for organ, eye, and tissue donors.
One organ donor can save up to 8 lives and heal 75 more through eye and tissue donation.
Any New Yorker 16 and older is eligible to enroll in the registry.
