Hochul: Expand paid leave to cover prenatal appointments

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Thursday unveiled her third initiative ahead of next week’s State of the State Address – lowering maternal and infant mortality rates.

Hochul plans to introduce new legislation to expand the state’s paid family leave policy to include 40 hours of leave to attend prenatal medical appointments.

This would make New York the first state in the nation to establish statewide coverage for prenatal care.
