Man gets 15 years in prison for sex assault on Warrensburg woman
A Nebraska man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting an elderly Warren County woman in her home.
Samaan Adenti, 23, pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree burglary for the Aug. 13, 2021 crime.
Adenti entered the woman’s Warrensburg home and forcibly subjected to sexual contact before fleeing. He had no prior connection to the victim, the Warren County District Attorney’s Office said.
DNA tests performed on evidence left at the scene linked Adenti to the crime.
Before serving his sentence, Adenti must serve a prison sentence in Vermont. He was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for the sexual assault and robbery of a woman that occurred days after the New York attack. The victim in the Vermont was a good Samaritan trying to help him with a purported car problem.
Warren County District Attorney Jason Carusone said the combined efforts of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police Crime Lab and police in Vermont and New Hampshire led to the conviction.
“This is a uniquely disturbing case where a complete stranger entered the victim’s rural home in the middle of the day and sexually assaulted her during a burglary,” Carusone said in a statement. “Tragically the defendant immediately fled to Vermont where he committed a vicious sexual assault and robbery before he could be identified as a suspect in New York. He was eventually captured in New Hampshire committing property crimes shortly after the New York and Vermont sexual assaults.
After the Warren County sentence is over, Adenti will have 10 years of post-release supervision.
