Dave Collins was living a busy life a year ago as a husband and father. He also taught masonry at Essex Tech in Danvers, Mass.

Everything came to a halt in April 2022, after a meeting with his doctor. She found Collins was in end stage renal failure.

Collins immediately went on dialysis and was put on a transplant list.

His only child – and co-worker at Essex Tech – launched a social media campaign to get her dad a kidney.

They found a number of matches, but the surgeries were cancelled at the last minute.

Then something amazing happened. Collins’ boss – the superintendent – volunteered to donate one of her own kidneys – and was a match!
